Initial step:
Started with 30 goats in ground type. Lice (Paen) problem was much. Not much weight increase in the goats was achieved and so shifted to stall fed by importing the plastic materials.

 Setup:
The shed has compartments. Each compartment houses 15 goats with a small section for the babies. This is done so as to feed it only twice a day (Morning and Evening).

 Experience talks:
For 20 or 25 females keep a good quality male. This ensures the new born's are healthy.

 Advice for beginners:
  1. In stall fed, you can go for wooden platform if plastic platform does not suite you.
  2. Give 15 sq.ft for each goat.
  3. Water quality should be good.
  4. Breeds recommended: Osmanabadi, Kodi aadu, Tellicherry, Boer cross (for good weight). 
  5. Extra care to be taken during the initial period of birth. During cold season (Dec, Jan, Feb) and rainy seasons (Sep, Oct, Nov), you must have a screen for protection. 
  6. Have a heater room and after birth, let the baby goats for 1 to 2 hours. This reduces the death rate.
  7. When the goat is 60 to 70 days old, eliminate the UDALPULU. 
  8. ET injection in 6 months or 1 year. Consult doctor.

Tomato - Organic farming

Growing tomato plants from seed A. Bed preparation: 1 m width x 15cms depth.  Mix the following 1. Vermicompost 2. Azospirillum 50 gms 3. Phosphobacteria 50 gms 4. Pseudomonos 20gms 5. Trichoderma viridi 20 gms Mix and keep it ready before a day. B. Seeds - 120 to 140 gms per acre 1. 3% panja kaviyam (30 ml per litre). 2. Soak the seeds in panja kaviyam for 10 minutes. 3. Dry in a shade place.  4. In the prepared bed, make straight lines of 1.5 to 2 cms depth with a stick. (Leave 10 cms gap between each line.) 5. Cover the seeds with vermicompost instead of sand or soil. 6. After 4 or 5 days you will see the growth of plant coming out of the soil. At this time, spray Amudha Karisal (1%). Provides disease resistance and also enhances plant growth.
