For 20 or 25 females keep a good quality male. This ensures the new born's are healthy.
Advice for beginners:
- In stall fed, you can go for wooden platform if plastic platform does not suite you.
- Give 15 sq.ft for each goat.
- Water quality should be good.
- Breeds recommended: Osmanabadi, Kodi aadu, Tellicherry, Boer cross (for good weight).
- Extra care to be taken during the initial period of birth. During cold season (Dec, Jan, Feb) and rainy seasons (Sep, Oct, Nov), you must have a screen for protection.
- Have a heater room and after birth, let the baby goats for 1 to 2 hours. This reduces the death rate.
- When the goat is 60 to 70 days old, eliminate the UDALPULU.
- ET injection in 6 months or 1 year. Consult doctor.
